Max Kettenacker

Max trained at the universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge and received a President’s Medals award for his dissertation, while his final year project was awarded the RIBA East Student Award. He joined Allies and Morrison in 2004 and was appointed as an Associate in 2008 and a Director in 2016.

Max has led a number of key projects in sensitive settings, including Tower Court at the Foreign Office in Whitehall, new-build offices on the waterfront in Hamburg’s HafenCity and the redevelopment of Hampton Court Station on the River Thames. Max delivered Ash Court, a new-build student accommodation wing and swimming pool at Girton College in Cambridge, which has received numerous awards, including a ‘Special’ RIBA Award in Sustainability.

Max has extensive experience of urban design having worked on various masterplans, including Brent Cross Cricklewood in North London. He also maintains a keen interest in sustainable building design and led Allies and Morrison’s pro-bono work for a charity-run training centre in Malawi.

Max recently set up Allies and Morrison’s studio in Cambridge and is currently working on projects for numerous Cambridge Colleges, including St John’s. He is also leading the redevelopment of Old Press/Mill Lane site in the heart of Cambridge on the River Cam.
