Ironworks, Mill Road
View all projectsA council-owned depot site in a Cambridge conservation area has been redeveloped to provide new homes. In a neighbourhood of small Victorian terraces, the depot site had previously been a foundry, and then a coal store. This inaugural project for the Council/Developer JV partnership draws on this mixed context and heritage to provide a variety of building scales and typologies: townhouses, mews houses, apartments and a community centre as well as 25% open green space, all set within a network of lanes and mews’ that respect the urban grain. 50% of the new homes are for council rent.
