Hackney Characterisation Study

View all projects

An inner London borough, Hackney is today one of the most dynamic and diverse parts of the capital. Because it is an increasingly popular place to live, work and visit, growth needs to be managed in a way that respects local character and distinctiveness. Commissioned by the local Council, this study has been an invaluable opportunity to research Hackney's physical, social, functional and historic evolution, in order to inform a policy approach to design that acknowledges local character whilst identifying opportunities for future sustainable development.
