Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners was commissioned by the Lucent Group to prepare a masterplan and outline planning applications for the development of two new villages and a commercial park on land between the River Trent and the western extent of Scunthorpe. The 259 ha site will deliver up to 3,000 new housing units and will play an instrumental role in delivering the wider Lincolnshire Lakes vision as adopted in North Lincolnshire Council’s Core Strategy and emerging Area Action Plan for the area.
The scheme will include a new primary school, formal and informal areas of play, local centres with community space and public spaces as a focus for village life. The scheme will open up access to the surrounding landscape which will be improved with new lakes and wildlife habitats.
The emerging proposals have been shaped by our detailed understanding of a number of technical and environmental constraints and opportunities. The masterplan will facilitate major new infrastructure including the creation of a new terminating junction to the M181, local highways improvement and investment in flood defences on the River Trent.
