Canary Wharf, London
The masterplan, which forms an eastward expansion of Canary Wharf is founded on straightforward urban principles. Public spaces are distributed so that each residential plot is adjacent to either a park or water. Commercial plots front the major streets that are in turn a part of a familiar urban hierarchy. It has a series of public spaces – a market place, a main square, a London park – all connected with a network of footpaths that connect the Grade I listed basin to the north with the informal park to the south and the existing community to the east with Canary Wharf to the west.
