Good design is good business: Banham HQ

The practice’s design for a new headquarters for Banham in southwest London has won an Architectural Record Good Design is Good Business Award. Now going for twenty years, the annual awards scheme recognises architectural schemes anywhere in the world that are of benefit to business.

In working with Banham, we collaborated with a fellow independent London business to bring to life the company’s desire to create not just a new office and production facility, but a home which is knitted into its landscape and community. Banham, a family run company since the 1920s, provides security services and builds high quality, patented lock systems.

‘Architect Allies and Morrison has juggled the demands of a constrained site, a tight schedule, and a complex programme’, comments Architectural Record in a review this month of the building, ‘the pieces have fallen into place with satisfying precision, like the tumblers of a well-engineered lock’.

In 2016, the building won an RIBA London, a RIBA National award and a BCO Award.
