Welney Visitor Centre
Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust
Improving visitor accessibility to the Wetlands, this new building provides a connection to the birdwatching hides and contains exhibition and education space, office accommodation and a meeting room, shop and cafe. Visible across the open fenland in which it sits, its barn-like form makes reference to neighbouring agricultural structures.
Sustainable building methods and materials include ground-source heating, grey water harvesting, reed bed filtration and the extensive use of certified timber for the structure and cladding.
