UCLAN SRI LANKA

Mirigama, Sri Lanka

Allies and Morrison is masterplanning a new international campus for The University of Central Lancashire in Sri Lanka offering UK undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to students from Sir Lanka and other South Asian countries for up to 10,000 students.

The site, currently a mature coconut and fruit tree plantation on the periphery of Colombo will be organised as two distinctive but connected parts – an academic core at the centre with residential areas on the periphery to accommodate all students and staff. The masterplan allows for the campus to grow in a highly flexible and multi phased manner over a 15 year period before reaching full capacity. Particular effort has been put into minimising infrastructure costs and designing low maintenance and low energy buildings, harnessing the wind to naturally ventilate buildings and streets and the sun for hot water and electricity.
