SOUTH HILL PARK

Bracknell, Berkshire

South Hill Park was one of the first arts centres to be established in the country. Converted in the 1960s from an eighteenth-century country house, it had become increasingly constrained by the accommodation it had inherited. This project provided an opportunity for a more radical exploration of the potential of the original, now Grade II listed, building.

The new works create new pottery and print-making studios within the walled enclosure of the original kitchen courtyard and a new roof-lit atrium space with a bar and cafe at the heart of the building. The completed project was made possible by Heritage Lottery Memorial funding and includes an installation by the glass artist Martin Donlin.
