SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY

Farringdon, London

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has its main headquarters in The Vaults, a historic converted warehouse in Leith, Edinburgh. For its new London members’ room, which occupies the first and second floors of a nineteenth-century former inn, the Society wanted to create a modern interior with the comfort and familiarity of its Edinburgh rooms.

The entrance is marked by a solid oak door set in a double-height glass screen, through which the open staircase to the members’ room is visible. The windows and external walls of the existing building have been restored, with new components detailed as discrete contemporary elements set within the existing building.
