PROJECT PROSPERO

Shakespeare's Globe

Following the successful completion of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Project Prospero is Shakespeare’s Globe’s next major capital development. It will provide for a fully integrated campus on Bankside and will transform the organisation, enabling audiences, scholars and the general public to engage at all levels with the most iconic writer of all times.

The new timber clad riverside building will incorporate a new library and archive, production facilities, administration space and a generous public entrance on Bankside including retail space.

Extensive remodelling of the below ground spaces will produce a new public exhibition and a suite of rehearsal rooms and education studios.

The architecture of the new building represents the provocative and shifting character of the activities that happens within it. It is a kind of physical scaffold, against and within which a continually developing academic and dramatic ambition will play out.
