Greenwich Peninsula, London

Greenwich Peninsula is one of the largest regeneration projects in London. Situated in east London, the the Royal Borough of Greenwich across the river Thames from Canary Wharf, it consists of seven new neighbourhoods masterplanned by Allies and Morrison. Building upon this work, the practice has recently been appointed architect for a residential component of the wider development.

In January, planning permission was secured for six blocks comprising 289 new homes of mixed tenure incorporating one, two and three bed units. Located on East Parkside, on the eastern side of Greenwich Peninsula and fronting Central Park, the building’s architecture is of a single family, balancing shared traits with each having their own individual expression. Generally light in colour and finely detailed, they are being designed with residents in mind, robust in materiality, providing generous natural light as well as balcony and terrace spaces.

Greenwich Peninsula is an important new cultural district for London incorporating The O2 Arena and Ravensbourne College, two new public parks, a new transport interchange, a new film studio as well as up to 15,000 new homes.
