LAVINGTON STREET HOTEL

Southwark, London

The hotel occupies a corner site within the district of Bankside in the London Borough of Southwark. The hotel’s entrance is located on Great Suffolk Street and provides access to the reception, guest restaurant and circulation core. Levels one to six each accommodates sixteen rooms arranged either side of a central circulation corridor. A further two storeys form a zinc clad, roof pavilion set back from the main fa├žade and containing a further 26 rooms.

The form and external appearance seeks to extend the materiality and enigmatic quality of the adjacent brick Victorian warehouses’ through a combination of simple massing; restrained, elegant and robust detailing; and the overt expression of lintel, cill, coping and cornice.
