LAMPTON ROAD

London

This new neighbourhood at the edge of Lampton Park in west London replaces the London Borough of Hounslow’s Civic Centre, an outdated and inefficient 1970’s building with 900 new homes comprising 50% affordable housing. This project provides a much needed supply of housing and creates a new urban place, knitted together by shared spaces and sustainable mobility.

Lampton Road will provide a selection of studio, one, two and three bed homes with each of the buildings delivering maisonettes at ground and first floor to provide active frontages onto the street. Brick has been used throughout to ground the scheme into the local context whilst allowing individual components to create character and an identity. The buildings aim to be robust and delightful, providing an architectural language which will stand the test of time.

Despite the density of the scheme, the spaces created between them are of central importance. The design retains a public aspect by gently knitting into the surrounding urban fabric and also providing generous open spaces which complement the wide open landscapes of the adjacent Lampton Park.

As London’s first Housing Zone and one of the city’s largest affordable housing projects, Lampton Road is poised to offer a model for high quality, high density development while addressing the wider area’s need for new housing.
