COWDRAY PARK GOLF CLUB

West Sussex

Set within Cowdray Park, a Grade II* site, and forming part of the Sussex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the course includes landscaping by 18th century Landscape designer Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown and has views to several listed buildings. A design was required, therefore, that would simultaneously take advantage of the dramatic designed vistas of Capability Brown’s scheme, without encroaching on them.

The Clubhouse is set out over two storeys and incorporates entrance and admin areas, changing facilities, a lounge and dining room, a spike bar and a professional’s shop. As prescribed by the initial brief, the building orientation and layout corresponds to the geography of the course around it.
