CONTEMPORARY APPLIED ARTS

Soho, London

Contemporary Applied Arts is one of the country’s leading independent applied arts galleries. Its new home, created within the ground and basement floors of an eighteenth-century house, includes a gallery space for temporary exhibitions, a shop, offices and a meeting room. The gallery and shop are connected by a double-height space which cascades from street level to the basement, allowing light and views to permeate.

While the resulting space is both surprising and dramatic, the interior finishes and details are simple and direct, providing an appropriate background for the objects on display.
