CANCER TREATMENT CENTRE

Guy's and St Thomas'

Allies and Morrison collaborated with Devereux Architects and contractor Kier, to develop a proposal that meets the critical technical demands of cancer treatment, but is defined by the experience of the patient.

The exterior deliberately undermines the existing sense that the hospital is a fortress against the city.

Its accommodation is simple and adaptable in plan but every space is limited to one of a series of gardens which define the arrival point on each floor, provide a framework for navigation around the building, and establish a relationship with the surrounding streets.
