BRIDGE OF ORCHY HOTEL

Argyle, Scotland

The project consists of twenty-one new bedrooms arranged in three single-storey timber-clad blocks featuring asymmetrical zinc roofs, the conversion of an existing nineteenth century cottage into a family suite/accessible guestroom, a sauna building, the reorganisation of the hotel’s back of house area and bar terrace and works to the hotel’s main entrance to make it accessible to all.

The rooms are positioned to follow the natural fall of the site and exploit the outstanding views towards the River Orchy and surrounding mountains. Arranged around a landscaped courtyard featuring native planting, the buildings create a familiar ‘farmstead’ pattern. The specific needs of the hotel’s clientele, who often arrive on foot via the West Highland Way, have been carefully catered for in the design of the bedrooms.
