BOARDING HOUSE

Brighton College

Brighton College is a co-educational independent school and this project provides new boarding accommodation as part of an ambitious building programme to improve facilities for pupils. The campus dates from the mid 19th Century and includes a number of Grade II listed buildings.

The new 71 bed boarding house has been designed to be clearly contemporary in construction detail, but contextual in material, massing and form. The volumes of the steeply pitched gabled forms are expressed internally. Interconnected double height spaces create a surprising internal spatial arrangement in contrast to the regular rhythm of the fa├žades expressing the bedroom modules.
