ALDGATE PLACE

Tower Hamlets, London

Aldgate Place incorporates residential, hotel, office and commercial space opposite Aldgate East Station and the Whitechapel Conservation Area developed for Barratt London and British Land.

Accommodating 463 units of mixed tenure, the three residential towers have kite shaped plans which relate to and redefine the diagonal connection of Drum Street and re-establish continuity with the building lines of the neighbouring orthogonal street pattern. The kite shapes aid internal layouts, providing a high percentage of dual aspect apartments.

Pocket parks have been introduced within the lanes and public realm, with shared amenity spaces created throughout for residents.

The heights of the 21 and 25-storey towers are determined by their relationship to the Tower of London backdrop and to ensure subservience to the view of the World Heritage site.
