Behind the success of each project lies a healthy and creative collaboration with our clients, users, consultants and contractors, from initial designs through to construction. We find that aspirations and expectations are regularly exceeded through good communication, a clear delineation of responsibilities and a flexible approach to consultation and the exchange of ideas.
We also enjoy successful design collaborations with other architects and urban designers. Our masterplan for King’s Cross Central was developed jointly with Porphyrios Associates and our contribution to London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games led to our appointment, as part of Team Populous, to deliver the masterplan for the Games, the overlay of public areas for use during events, the post-Games transformation of the site to create a new park for London and the masterplan for permanent Legacy development.
For some our our projects, such as those in Lebanon, Sharjah, Qatar, India and The Netherlands, we have developed collaborative relationships with local executive architects, spending extended periods working together to ensure the fullest integration of teams. During the construction of our Alila Hotel in Bangalore we worked with local practice hundredhands and in Beirut, on our residential development at District//S, with R&K Architects and Engineers. Our commitment to achieving the best built outcome is realised through an open-minded approach and by providing ongoing and active support.
On occasion we also work as Executive Architects for the development and construction of designs by others, as at New Court Rothschild Bank with Rem Koolhaas’ office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). The success of this collaboration, with the project shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, has led to us working together again at hollandgreen – a high-end residential scheme in Holland Park that includes the redevelopment of the listed modernist Commonwealth Institute as a new home for the Design Museum.
