Ian studied Architecture and Engineering at Cambridge University, St John’s College. He joined Allies and Morrison in 1989 and became a Director of the practice in 2001.
Ian has played a significant design role on a number of key projects. He was Project Architect for the Abbey Mills Pumping Station, and Design Director on the Horniman Museum and the BBC Media Village at White City, London, all of which have received numerous architectural awards.
Ian is experienced in a wide range of building types from offices, residential and hotel through to cultural, religious and University faculty buildings. He was Design Director for a hotel tower in Brighton; a multi-storey commercial tower at Bishopsgate in the City of London; the Elizabeth House, a mixed-use and urban regeneration scheme next to Waterloo station; and a number of commercial and governmental buildings in Qatar.
Currently, Ian is leading the design for two new commercial buildings within the Wood Wharf masterplan at Canary Wharf.
