Van Alen Institute International Council

The practice has joined the International Council of the Van Alen Institute, a New York-based organisation that develops cross disciplinary research, public programmes and design competitions in urbanism. For more than a century, the Institute has been an advocate for fresh thinking in the design and planning of its home city – New York – and is now increasingly engaging with dialogues in cities around the world.

The International Council is a group of overseas practices which add a global dimension to the Institute’s programming, providing advice and content to Van Alen’s New York-based team. Additionally, it convenes two workshops a year in different cities in the world to identify and explore urban challenges in those cities, offering implementable design strategies.

Allies and Morrison will be represented in the group by Alfredo Caraballo and Daniel Elsea.
