RIBA National Award for King’s College School

Allies and Morrison's work on a new building for a school in Wimbledon, south London has been awarded a coveted RIBA National Award. The project is one of 49 buildings to receive such a distinction in 2017. The new carefully detailed building at King's College School provides new classrooms and a dramatic new great hall for the School, as well as new administrative accommodation. It also helps to complete a quad, taking an important place in its late Victorian campus.

Recently completed: Glasshouse Gardens, Stratford

Stratford is rising. With the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park firmly anchored in its burgeoning east London context, the development at the Park’s edges is now taking shape. Among these are two new residential towers, Glasshouse Gardens, which the practice has designed for Lendlease. Set within the International Quarter masterplanned by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, the residential buildings are located at the head of the new neighbourhood and help to form a southern gateway for the Olympic Park. The towers articulate an early legacy concept of ‘buildings within a park’ relating to and very much being embraced by the new park landscape.

RIBA London Awards: King’s College School and Hollandgreen

In a ceremony last night at the RIBA, Portland Place, two Allies and Morrison projects were honoured with RIBA London Awards: King’s College School in Wimbledon and Hollandgreen, incorporating the Design Museum.

In Paddington, echoes of Brunel, Prouvé and Chareau

Allies and Morrison has completed Four Kingdom Street, a new high grade office building at Paddington Central. It is the first to be completed of two office buildings designed by the practice for British Land at their canal-side development next to Paddington railway station. Tucked into a compact yet highly visible site adjacent to The Westway, the new building provides over 12,800 sqm of commercial office space over nine flexible floorplates above a generous reception and retail areas.
